Privacy Policy — Outdoor Fun Hunt

Overview
Outdoor Fun Hunt („the app“) is designed to let you create and play location-based treasure hunts outdoors. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
What Data We Collect
Your Location
The app uses GPS to show your position on the hunt map and to determine when you’re close enough to a station for its clue to unlock (approximately 15 meters). Location data is processed entirely on your device and is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties. You control location permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Team Name and Answers
When you enter a hunt, we store your team name and submitted answers (text responses or confirmation that a photo was taken) so you can resume your progress later and appear on the leaderboard. This data is associated with the hunt itself and is visible to other teams playing the same hunt for leaderboard ranking purposes.
Photos You Take
If a task requires a photo answer, the photo is stored locally on your device. We do not upload, store, or transmit photos to our servers. You can optionally save photos to your device’s photo library — the app never accesses your existing library.
Organiser Account Information
If you create an organiser account to build hunts, we store your email address and an encrypted password hash on our Appwrite backend (millhunt.nax.cz). This is used only for authentication and is never shared or sold.
How We Use Your Data
- To run hunts — your location unlocks clues, your answers are scored, and your team’s progress is tracked.
- To show the leaderboard — your team name and total points are displayed alongside other teams‘ scores in real-time.
- To resume your progress — your answers and completion status are saved so you can pick up where you left off.
- To authenticate organisers — your email and password let you sign in to create and manage hunts.
Data Retention
Hunt data and team progress are stored indefinitely so you can resume hunts at any time. Organiser accounts remain active until you delete them. You can request deletion of your team’s data by emailing support@rakovickymlyn.cz.
Security
The app uses HTTPS (with a temporary HTTP exception for the backend during development) to encrypt data in transit. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Location data stays on your device. We recommend keeping your device and app updated to the latest versions.
Third-Party Services
Outdoor Fun Hunt uses Appwrite (appwrite.nax.cz) as its backend for hunt storage, answer submission, and leaderboard ranking. Appwrite’s privacy practices are governed by their terms. The app does not integrate Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, or other third-party analytics services.
Children’s Privacy
The app is suitable for families and scout groups. If you’re under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before using it. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13 beyond what’s necessary to run hunts (team name, answers, location during gameplay).
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. Email support@rakovickymlyn.cz with your request and we’ll respond within 30 days. You can also revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app grows. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the new policy.
